I think that true independence means people have total trust in you. You are able to make your own choices responsibly and that is doing what's right. Independence is something you earn by others. Other people give you the ability to be independent. I think you also have freedom when you are doing what's right because you don't have to worry about consequences or have any worries about being confronted. It's almost like peace of mind and I think that people consider that freedom and independence. Also if you do whats right people trust you very easily. It really changes peoples perspective on you if they notice that you are a genuine person.
