Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14th. It celebrates/honors the saint Valentinus. The saint had been known as being courteous and healing his judge's daughter's blindness. Back then, people gave each other little letters, confections or sweets, and gave each other flowers. It is still a tradition today. Companies have been mass producing valentines cards since the 19th century. In Latin american countries it is called "El Dia de los Enamorados" In Iran anything related to Valentine's Day is banned but they used to have a similar festival where they would express love towards their mother or wives. In Saudi Arabia any shops that sell anything red or valentines day related will deal with arrests and law. They do not celebrate it due to it being a western holiday and something of Christianity. There is a very big black market for roses and other small gifts. People who don't celebrate their Valentine's Day in South Korea must go to a restaurant and eat black noodles to lament their single life.
