Student Success Statement 1.11.18

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right." -Dean Smith

When you really dedicate yourself to stay on the good frontlines of things it can really pay off. Sometimes it's really tempting to cheat or lie or maliciously sabotage someone especially in sports. It happens a lot actually and the immediate reward may be good but the eventual consequence can be career ending or just generally very bad. Being humble and not expecting things to go good all the time can really have it's pay off too. Sometimes I think when you aren't able to handle loss or failing you shouldn't expect to win so much. Dean Smith did his very best when it came to being a good intention-ed coach and his team did extremely well. A good leader makes a good functional team. The best example of good sportsmanship Ive seen in a while in fact.
